Reykjavik

I spent three days in Reykjavik. I arrived on my birthday (Jan 29) and booked a northern lights tour. Sadly, the weather was cloudy and snowy most of the time (with some hail thrown in). The wind was around 30mph which made walking around a challenge! I have three nights here at the end of my trip, so I’ve rescheduled it a couple days before I fly home.

My plan was to visit second hand stores, museums, and yarn shops.

Here are some of the highlights:

Thrift shops I visited:
Spuutnik
Red Cross
Wasteland
Fatamarkadurinn

An old military jacket I bought at Sputtnik. It was ~$35 USD.
Treasures from the Red Cross.

Saga Museum:

The displays at the Saga Museum are so life-like. And this one featured a varafeldur.

Hallgrimskirkja:

Yarn stores:
Most of the shops are 30+ minutes away, so I only went to the Handknitters Association of Iceland. When I come back at the end of my stay, I’m going to take a bus to the Alafoss shop, about an hour away.

I really want to visi the Alafoss store, but it’s about an hour away by bus. I will plan on going there at the end of my trip.
