My First Loom

Ashford 48″ Rigid Heddle Loom

I enjoyed using the rented Schact Cricket 15″ loom for my classes. But I wanted the biggest loom available so I could do a variety of projects. I thought all I needed was one loom. At the time there wasn’t a lot of information about weaving on the 48″ loom so I took a leap of faith and bought it plus the stand.

I decided to post videos on my Instagram account to show what it’s like to weave on the 48″ loom. Here’s my first project weaving the full width of the loom.

The Ashford 48″ loom requires space!

This is my first solo project – and my first project on my 48″ loom.

Pros of the 48″ loom:

*Gives the freedom to do a wide variety of sized projects. Technically this would be the only loom you need!
*It is well made and the stand is very sturdy.

Cons of the 48″ loom:

*It isn’t portable – and I think the stand is absolutely necessary.
*You need more space in order to pass the 48″ shuttle.
